Azaadi: The Journey Continues — Celebrating India’s Freedom and Progress Convent of Jesus and Mary celebrated the 80th Independence Day on 15 August 2026 with a memorable presentation that traced India’s journey from its glorious past to the present day. The celebration featured a powerful dance-drama in the school auditorium, taking the audience through different chapters of India’s story. The celebration was honoured by the presence of Air Commodore Saumitra Tamaskar, Vayu Sena Medal, Air Officer Commanding, 7 Wing Air Force, as the Chief Guest. Commissioned into the Indian Air Force in 1998, Air Commodore Tamaskar is a distinguished officer and an accomplished Experimental Test Pilot with over 4,400 flying hours across more than 25 types of aircraft. His distinguished service and leadership, including his role during Operation Balakot, have earned him the Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry). He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Saloni Tamaskar. The students’ performance beautifully captured this continuing journey and reinforced the message of remembering our past, valuing our freedom and inspiring the future.
